Social Venture Challenge Grant Finalists The YorIt Advisory Committee has voted to bring two exciting proposals forward to the full membership for a vote on May 31st. The finalists are: YorShoppes: A pop-up retail incubator housing multiple retailers under one roof to create a unique shopping experience downtown. Check out their video submission. CoWork 155: A coworking office site and community gathering place in the heart of downtown York that will incubate businesses, host programs and special events. Check out their video submission. |

Semifinalists Chosen for Projects to Invigorate Downtown YorIt is pleased to announce that five submissions have made it to the semifinal round of the 2013 YorIt Social Venture Challenge, which challenges those with exciting and innovative ideas to apply for funds for projects that will invigorate downtown York.
The proposals were submitted via online youtube videos. Semifinalists will now be required to submit a full proposal and be interviewed by YorIt members. Winners of the Social Venture Challenge have the chance to receive awards of up to $20,000 in funds when the YorIt members vote later this spring.
The semifinalists are: Townie1, YorShoppes, CoWork155, Bring on the Bee, EPB York.

Spring Event 2012 Congratulations to The Parliament! The YorIt membership voted to grant a $5,000 Social Venture Challenge award to the energetic and committed arts collective The Parliament.
The award will be used as seed money to grow the good work they are doing to organize music and art events in downtown York, provide venues for local artists to show their work, and create opportunities for all people to be creative. The Parliament's volunteers and artists demonstrated their professionalism by installing an amazing show of local art and transforming the MarketView Arts space into a world-class gallery.
